five weeks

We were just in Dubai for five weeks, for a refreshing visit to our old home, my family and dear friends. We even stayed a week extra and it was a wonderful and encouraging time - especially that unplanned week! Two friends gave birth while we were there, and Jacqueline made lots of friends. Dubai was the same as when we left, except for bigger babies and more people :) We arrived just in time for the wedding of a friend and I was able to surprise her at her hen party beforehand. We loved introducing Jacqueline to all of our friends, and especially to her namesake.

Some recent thoughts...

- Jacqueline is almost ten months now, and finally has her first tooth! It showed itself right before we left Dubai, at 9.5 months. She's been crawling all over the place since 6 months and is close to standing on her own now. She still does NOT like eating food, except a select few, and when she feels like it.

- After a surprising and disappointing failure for GMO labeling in California, I'm hopeful for a better vote in our state next year! This is a frightening prospect though, which would basically give biotech companies immunity from law. Completely possible that it will pass, with terrible consequences, and something we should all keep on our toes about.

- This is our favorite way to use pumpkin every year! Mel's Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread. I use coconut oil and all whole wheat, and sometimes add several teaspoons of baking powder (not sure if it's supposed to be in there or not). So moist and good!

love,
Cait
